The First World War was a traumatic event for New Zealand and the wider world. Of the 104,000 New Zealand men and women that left to partake in the war, 18,000 were killed and a further 41,000 were wounded. In 2014, countries worldwide began commemorating the centenary of World War 1, through events, projects and activities.
